Creating Trending Multi-Sensory Marketing Campaigns in Aesthetics

Multi-Sensory Marketing
Share

Many times I have found myself humming to the melody of an advertising jingle which has persisted in my thoughts, or visited a brand’s site and left feeling empowered.

Such experiences have stayed with me, even as I have entered a store to make a purchase, or searched directories to make an appointment for a service. If a brand has reached out to me in a way that stirs emotion and makes me feel seen and heard by engaging all of my senses, I am more likely to trust the brand and remember it when I have to make purchasing decisions.

Our experiences of life are never flat and one dimensional. When I remember my school senior year dance, I can still hear the song that was playing, I can remember the scent of the perfume I was wearing, Beautiful by Estee Lauder, and I can feel the squeeze of my toes in my heels. All of my senses were engaged.

It’s this multi-sensory experience which marketers should tap into when presenting a product. If you can access these emotional reservoirs of potential clients, you can win them over. You have to always remember that people think with their hearts and emotions first, and to tap into this space, you have to engage the senses. If you want ‘sensational’, remember that sensational begins with ‘sense’. The more senses which are engaged, the better!

Aesthetics brands can no longer rely on visuals alone to capture attention. Today’s consumers respond to campaigns which appeal to all of their senses, touching them on an emotional and experiential level.

Tally Moran, Popular Pays writer, recently wrote about the rise of sensory marketing online. This is what she had to say: ““Is your social feed making you crave a glazed donut while shopping for skincare? You’re not alone!”

She writes how there has been an explosion of sensory marketing which is transforming how brands connect with consumers.

Gemma Calvert is a British neuroscientist and pioneer of neuromarketing. She is the founder of Neurosense Limited, the world’s first neuromarketing agency established in 1999. Her work focuses on understanding how sensory stimuli affect consumer behaviour and decision-making processes.”If you get that right, you can deliver superior experiences for consumers that far outperform any single sensory broadcast alone, providing a huge competitive advantage,” she says.

This is definitely an exciting time to showcase the best your brand has on offer, as there are so many tools available to engage in this ‘sensory marketing’ adventure. As a beauty or aesthetics brand, there are smart ways you can engage all of the senses: seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, feeling. For example, you can provide a tactile, sensory experience for clients through providing a recipe for a treatment. While they feel the cool facial on their face, your brand will be associated with the pleasurable experience. Or maybe, you can use evocative music in your campaign, which will resonate deep within their spirit as they log into your site and read about your newest product offering.

The options are numerous. For example, you can use interactive visuals, ambient soundscapes, AR effects, and even virtual scent or texture cues to recreate an in-person experience. Engaging multiple senses in such a manner will drive loyalty, enhance brand recall, and encourage conversions.

There is actually a science behind this positive impact of multi-sensory marketing. Human decision-making is deeply rooted in sensory perception. Research shows that up to 95 percent of consumer purchasing decisions are subconscious. This means that they are influenced by emotions rather than logic. Multi-sensory campaigns tap directly into this emotional space!

Sight remains dominant in marketing, but sound has been shown to enhance brand recall by up to 96 percent! This means striking visuals, with memorable sound, can immediately position your brand at the top of your potential clients minds and memories.

Sound can be included using videos with spatial audio, ASMR-style treatment demonstrations, or soothing music during virtual consultations.

Scent, while challenging digitally, is increasingly simulated through product samplers sent after an online launch or described vividly in storytelling campaigns.

Touch and texture are represented through haptic feedback in apps or detailed 3D renderings of product packaging, giving consumers a sense of tangibility even before visiting a clinic.

Taste, though less commonly used, can be incorporated through wellness drinks or beauty supplements marketed alongside treatments, with interactive online recipes or live demos.

By combining these senses digitally, aesthetics brands create richer online experiences that viewers can almost feel, hear, and imagine.

Why Multi-Sensory Campaigns Are Trending in Aesthetics

Today’s consumers do not merely buy products or treatments. They invest in experiences. In aesthetics, where treatments are tied to emotions such as confidence, youthfulness, and self-expression, multi-sensory campaigns amplify perceived value.

Multi-sensory campaigns break through digital clutter, creating immersive experiences which are shareable, memorable, and extend across social media, websites, and apps.

Younger audiences, particularly Gen Z and Millennials, are especially attuned to online brand storytelling. They expect innovation, emotional resonance, and interactive elements. Multi-sensory campaigns provide all of these qualities, strengthening engagement and encouraging user-generated content which spreads organically.

The most effective campaigns start with emotion, not individual senses. Each sensory element should reinforce the feeling a clinic or brand wants clients to experience, whether this be confidence, calm, empowerment, or luxury.

London’s Selfridges has pioneered experiential beauty retail, translating it to digital through virtual pop-ups with 360-degree video tours, ambient soundscapes, and AR product try-ons.

Clinics such as Dr Rita Rakus in Knightsbridge enhance online consultations with soothing ambient sounds and guided meditations available via apps. These give digital clients a sense of calm and luxury even before arriving in person.

Shoreditch’s Glow Bar promotes beauty as lifestyle through online workshops featuring adaptogenic lattes and collagen-rich drinks. Live-streamed tutorials with recipe demonstrations engage taste and smell vicariously, reinforcing wellness branding.

As these companies demonstrate, multi-sensory campaigns consistently outperform traditional marketing. Deloitte’s 2024 Consumer Experience Survey found brands integrating three or more senses achieved 70 percent higher engagement!

UK clinics using signature scents or digital soundscapes reported increased client loyalty, while multi-sensory online activations generated higher social media impressions than standard product posts.

For UK aesthetics businesses, where repeat clientele and reputation are critical, immersive multi-sensory campaigns represent a strategic investment, translating directly into conversions, retention, and brand differentiation.

In 2026 and beyond, the most successful campaigns will not just show beauty; they will make clients feel it.
